Funny Story by Emily Henry

I am firmly part of the camp that believe Emily Henry can do no wrong. She and Catherine Walsh are auto-buy romance authors for me and I will read anything these women write! Funny Story is Henry’s latest and much anticipated release and I loved getting sucked into the world of Daphne and Miles.
Jilted by her fiancé Peter after he returns from his stag, Daphne moves in with Miles, ex-boyfriend of Petra who was (1) Peter’s childhood best friend and (2) the woman he left Daphne for. With forced proximity and fake relationship tropes at play, Henry pulls us in and left me laughing out loud and, at times, sincerely hoping that the batteries in my headphones wouldn’t die and that the narration would start playing out loud in public! 👀
I had this on preorder so it happily ticks a box on our @another.chapter.podcast reading challenge, and it made me so happy to see it pop up on audible. Julia Whelan narrates all of Emily Henry’s books and she is fantastic! While it wasn’t my favourite of hers, I would go back and read it again in a heartbeat because it is pure escapism with feel-good vibes and I am 100% here for it! I also loved how Daphne was a librarian, so I give bonus points for that! 😅
