May Readalong Book

May Readalong Book

Each month, we pick a book to read along with our listeners, later making a podcast episode from the discussion raised from the read-along.

Our choice for May is something a little different:

Framed by a present-day prologue and epilogue, the play is set in 1963 in a convent laundry at St. Paul's Home for Penitent Women in Killmacha, Ireland. 'Eclipsed' explores the practice of making pregnant and unwed Irish mothers work as 'penitents' in church-run laundries.

Patricia Burke Brogan's Eclipsed is a play that packs a punch, making the reader reflect on this tragic part of Ireland's history.

If you're interested in joining us in reading it this month, send a message to our Instagram account @another.chapter.podcast to be included in the chat.
